Muzammil Ahmed Qazi is a youth clean energy advocate from Pakistan, currently working in the renewable energy industry. An active IEEE volunteer with over four years of experience, he has led impactful initiatives promoting clean energy, youth engagement, and technological innovation. Muzammil has received multiple recognitions for his leadership and contributions from IEEE Power & Energy Society, and currently part of IEEE’s Climate & Sustainability Task Force. With a background of Electrical Engineering and focus on Smart Grid Systems, he is committed to advancing renewable energy, supporting a just transition, and empowering communities through cross-cultural collaboration to achieve global climate goals.
Solar Panels & Trainings for Flood-Affected Communities:
Back in 2022, my area faced one of the deadliest floods leaving people homeless and displaced in refugee camps. Many suffered from diseases caused by insect bites due to the lack of lighting at night. Some families relied on unsafe, oil-based lanterns. I saw an opportunity to make a difference and submitted this project to the IEEE PES Humanitarian Technology Project Design and Implementation (HTPDI) program. Fortunately, it was selected and awarded funding of USD 2,000. With this support, we provided small solar home systems to 25 refugee families in the Manjhad area of Sindh, Pakistan. This initiative not only improved their quality of life but also brought sustainable energy solutions to a disaster struck community. Working on this project remains one of the most meaningful achievements of my life, directly impacting the lives of those in need.
