Oumaima En-najem
International Relations student
My name’s Oumaima En-najem, a Global Affairs Master’s student from Morocco. My journey has been shaped by diverse experiences, but driven by one constant ambition: to advocate for a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world.
From interning with public institutions like government ministries and the National Human Rights Council; working on green economy, inclusion, and sustainable development to conducting research on climate refugees, the political economy of climate change, and just energy transitions in resource-dependent economies, I’ve always sought to connect policy, people, and the planet.
I’ve had the honor of representing Moroccan youth on global platforms such as the COP, the UNFCCC Subsidiary Bodies, and the UN Forum on Financing for Development, while also advancing peace and disarmament with the UN Office for Disarmament Affairs.
These experiences have deepened my belief that youth must be at the forefront of shaping an inclusive energy future, one that prioritizes clean energy access, social justice, and resilience across the Global South.
That’s why, in every project I lead, I carry one personal motto: use our energy to build peace, not fuel conflict, and to power a just and sustainable transition for all.
As part of the Moroccan Youth Negotiators Council, we co-organized the Regional Conference of Youth Africa in 2024 in Rabat, and with the Youth Leader Fund cohort, we organized a nuclear disarmament conference and presented a youth declaration to the UN in Hiroshima, Japan.
