Renewable Energy Engineer, currently working in the operation and analysis of power generation plants

I’m Joaquín González Borges, a Renewable Energy Engineer from Uruguay, currently working in the operation and analysis of power generation plants. I have a strong interest in sustainability and social equity. Over the years, I’ve been involved in local conservation projects in wind farms, community engagement initiatives, and international research in solar and wind energy. Through SES 2025, I hope to bring my hands-on experience to global conversations, while connecting with other young leaders to strengthen our collective impact on the energy transition in Latin America.

I was one of the people who presented the proposal for the Uruguay Green Tech Hub, the country’s first open innovation lab focused on solar energy and electromobility. This nationwide initiative, launched in 2025, connects academia, industry, and research institutions to drive sustainable development. In parallel, I work as a Project Engineer in renewable power plants, where I lead tasks related to performance analysis, regulatory compliance, and environmental management. These projects have been implemented across various regions in Uruguay, always aiming to combine technical excellence with meaningful social impact.
