Petroleum engineer by who has reoriented her professional path toward social issues, education, sustainability, and energy transition
I’m Mariana Velazquez Cardenas from Mexico, a petroleum engineer by who has reoriented her professional path toward social issues, education, sustainability, and energy transition. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sustainability Science at UNAM, where I am conducting research on the perspectives of oil industry workers in Mexico regarding a just energy transition. Additionally, I collaborate with the Mexican Carbon Capture and Storage Platform (MeCCS), which serves as a boundary object to foster dialogue between workers, companies, governments, and civil society about carbon.
I have been collaborating for four years with MeCCS, the Mexican Platform for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), which is a project focused on communication, dissemination, and exchange of knowledge and information about CCS technology and its role in sustainable development in Mexico. In this project, I have contributed from the early idea development stage to workshops, newsletters, events, and managing social media.
