My name is Marianne Romany, and I’m an environmental Stem student based in Cairo, Egypt. I’m passionate about sustainability, storytelling, and using science and technology to drive real-world impact. I’ve been involved in various youth-led environmental initiatives, including, awareness campaigns, and international events like the Earthshot Prize Youth Program in South Africa. I love connecting with changemakers from around the world and believe in the power of young people to lead climate action through creativity, collaboration, and community.
I led a community-based project titled “Flowing Towards Change: Preserving the Nile River by Reducing Pollution”, which was implemented in Egypt. The initiative focused on raising awareness about pollution in the Nile and involved assessing waste disposal practices, educating local communities through a program, and organizing a clean-up activity along the river. This project was supported by National Geographic and The Nature Conservancy as part of the Externship Freshwater program. It combined environmental education, youth engagement, and hands-on action to create lasting impact.
