Student Energy started with a spark, and that spark was SES. In 2009, three driven students passionate about energy, found that young people like themselves had no space to engage directly with the decision-makers and influential leaders who were determining their energy future. They had the ambitious idea to host an international conference where young people set the agenda, led the discussion, and asked the questions. They united hundred of youth who shared their passion along side some of the world’s energy leaders for the very first International Student Energy Summit (SES 2009) in Calgary, Canada. This inaugural Summit sparked a movement and the beginning of Student Energy expanding into the world’s largest organization working with young people on the energy transition.
Today Student Energy has a network of 50,000 youth in over 130 countries, and empowers the next generation of energy leaders with the skills and networks they need to take action on energy.
